I am happy to report that we all survived our first week of homeschooling!! To be honest it is still very surreal to me. As much as I am a supporter of homeschoolers and homeschooling, I never thought in a million years that I would be one of those parents. I never felt that I would be capable (on many different levels) to homeschool my children. And a few times throughout this first week I honestly questioned if maybe I had made a mistake. I know that that is not true of course. I believe this is what God wants for us...for my kids...for me.

With that being said, this is how we finished out our week:
Sammy has been working on a "Seven Days of Creation Book" and Thursday was day 3. Each day we read out of Genesis about what God created that day. Then he gets to draw a picture about what he just learned and cut out a number to coordinated with that day.
Here he is cutting out his number 3 for his book.
While Sammy and I were working together,
Sydney was perfecting her telephone skills.
And apparently those two decided that Thursday was "No Shirt Day!" Silly kids!!
Later in the afternoon the girls and I went outside for a science project. We were learning about habitats.
They each had to mark off a 4x4 square in the yard. Then they had to study and record what they saw.

It was nice to get outside for awhile and I think the girls really enjoyed it!

Friday was a fun day!!
First, we got to wait for the bus with all our day care kids....
Then we worked on another science project. This time we were learning about niches and
we had to work with worms....LIVE worms!!
First we had to fill a jar with black dirt, then sand, then more dirt and finally oatmeal. Next we had to put the worms in the jar. I put the first one in then wanted the kids to put in the rest. I finally convinced Alivia to put one in, but that was her limit. Annabelle wouldn't even go near them!
Of course (and thankfully) Sammy was more than willing to put the rest in for us (wimpy) girls!
He thought they were really cool!
We finished up our day by noon. After the daycare kids got home from school we headed to the park for a 'First Week of School Celebration' party with our friends!
It was a beautiful day and a great way to end our first week!

Tomorrow we start a new week and I'm really looking forward to it!
It's going to take awhile for us to find our groove, but we are well on our way!!
